The ground and the sky had never been in such a feud in which they were throwing dirt and wind at each other like adolescent child teasing one another. There was no particular reason as to why this feud continued on and because of that, no one paid much mind to it. Why didn’t people care? It was quite simple. No one lived in the wastelands except for rumored monsters and stereotypical marauders whom would rob, rape, or kill the unfortunate that came strolling by. The one that settled the bitter sandstorm was a young man by the name of Terrell Jones. Of course, a normal human could not possibly possess such power in order to stop Mother Nature from bickering with the gods of the sky. So, how was this man that towered above in height, stop this violent war? The answer was quite simple. He was a “Shinigami”. To be more accurate, a Death God that sent Souls that were wandering the world to heaven, which was really called the Soul Society. This was in no way surprising to see this particular Death God walking among the living as if he ruled it. He came and went as he pleased. There was no need for him to stay like a caged bird up in the skies. In fact, there were actually humans who knew of his existence, while others reacted in the usual surprised and horrified way. This was due to Terrell’s uncaring nature in keeping his existence confidential. Normally, a Shinigami would want to keep his or her hidden, but Terrell would do this only to cause minor scares amongst those who knew of him in the past. As of now, he only had one thing in mind as he stepped foot in the barren wasteland and that was to do his natural rounds of slaying Hollows that were close to becoming a Vasto Lorde.
The winds continued to fight in a vain attempt to defy the Shinigami’s ash-colored Reiatsu. With a sigh, the Shinigami heaved a black colored Nodachi over his head, than swung it towards the ground as the air around him was nearly cut into two. A rather loud crashing sound took place soon after. This crash was Terrell exerting his Reiatsu around him in order to force the winds to subside. The wind around him grew even more violent than slowly settled down as if it beckoned to his demand. He stood there for a few moments before placing his Zanpakuto on the back of his waist and taking a deep breath. The sun was still out and spreading its tentacle-like solar waves towards the Earth's surface. That and it seemed like there was still no Hollow in sight for him to slay and perform a Soul Burial against. So, without wasting anymore time, he continued to walk through the field as his clothes and hair danced in whatever direction the wind turned. His body and the wind were like dancing partners. They both had a deep understanding of one another and thus, they moved in rhythm with an equilibrium unmatched by anyone else in the world. But Terrell didn't seem to pay any attention to how graceful he must of looked while walking through this flat and boring desert. If anything, he honestly could careless, he was more in a bad mood than he was a carefree one. Ever since he had arrived from the Rukongai, he had been constantly hounded by the "reporters" of the Seireitei and was given the nickname, "The Black Death" due to his Reiatsu and bloody wake that he left behind him in the different Districts. That and nearly everyone treated or looked at him like he was some pretty boy God or some abomination. To them, they majority of them were nothing but-
"Humans given a shining blade and another chance at life."
It was at that moment that he felt someone suddenly appear. This being that appeared stared at him with clothing ripped and more than half of their body being visible to the dirt and sand that flew around in the sky. For a moment, everything froze around them, up until Terrell turned around and said in a very soft voice,
"What... Are you doing here... Lucy?"
She said nothing. Only stared at him with angry eyes. She made little to no body movements.
"Why... Are you here?"
The pink haired girl finally answered as four transparent arms stretched out from her back and formed a long bloodstained and pink colored Nodachi and said,
"To kill you, my darling."

Terrell didn't even have time to question her as the Zanpakuto flew forward. The very first thing that came to mind was to swing his own and knock it away. When he did follow through the movement, he actually lifted off the ground a few inches but forced his Reiatsu onto the pink colored Nodachi and landed on the ground roughly. 'What the hell? She can attack faster than me?' This was already the first strike that started to piss him off. Out of the majority of the people he fought, he was always able to swing his Zanpakuto faster than the opponent and catch them off balance, before cleaving their shoulder open with a single slash. His Zanpakuto Spirit, Lucy, basically one-upped him in a matter of seconds. Terrell's teeth gritted against one another until he was finally able to knock the vector away and swipe his Zanpakuto to the side. As soon as he was able to regain his balance, another vector came aimed at his neck and knocked that one with some trouble that caused him to fly farther back. 'Damn it... She's basically beating me down like a doll and we just started... Wait. I didn't even release yet.' Terrell let out an aggravated grunt before skipping back a bit. "Incidere, Lucy." Again, he swung his sword, this time releasing a large amount of Reiryoku before the blade transformed and turned into a much more sharp and machine-made sword. Lucy made no movements or advances towards him which caused a slight tilt to the head. '...? Why isn't she hitting me now? She was bull-rushing me when I was close to her.' Not much time passed when he realized what the problem was. Without really saying much else, he charged right at her, keeping his Zanpakuto in his right hand and began striking the vectors as they came at him. The only one that stayed beside Lucy was the one holding her Zanpakuto.
The battle had passed a little over five minutes and was already causing him to grow a little tired. All he was able to do was dash in, strike at the vectors, than pull back as she used the vector with the Zanpakuto in order to keep him at bay. Yes, it was effective, the routine was starting to get old and he would eventually tire out. After he went through the process for the fifth time, Terrell finally retreated, breathing softly as the dust around them slowly subsided. His chest pushed out and pulled back in at a slow pace. His hand had gotten a bit sweaty from how tight he was gripping the blade and couldn't help acknowledge the small cuts he received from the vectors. They were quite the same as Ortus et Ruina. Actually, they were exactly the same, just more deadlier and sharper than them. What he was trying to acknowledge before actually came to him now. The vectors had a short range. He had a longer range. 'What the hell is this... She's making me think now...' Another agitated sigh escaped his lips. 'She's just standing there like she's sure she can hold ground... Let's see about that.' His eyes wandered over to the vectors. 'They were just as transparent as Ortus et Ruina but faster. Hell. They could kill me right away if it wasn't for the fact that I can fight back pretty well. She always keeps that one vector with the Zanpakuto near her...' Terrell's eyes focused more on the pink Nodachi. 'Huh... Its obvious that she hits me whenever I get close... If I can distract the vectors than I might be able to get a clean shot at her. Not that it'd matter. She might be able to decapitate me... Might tear off a limb... Ah... So many different ways to mutilate...' A rather sadistic grin tore itself onto his face as he allowed the Zanpakuto to levitate beside him. "Alright. Let's just settle this with one question. Why are you doing this?" Lucy seemed a bit depressed by his statement but immediately switched her facial expression to match that of pure anger before lashing her vectors out at him.
Even though he didn't realize it at the time, he had just hurt her in such a way that she would no longer hold back, which would be the very demise that could possibly unfold.

Terrell honestly didn't understand what he said to infuriate Lucy. Attack after attack, she managed to cut him, whether he tried to defend or tried to get onto the offense. When she moved, he was forced to fall back or get cut, either one caused him to bleed even more and experience more pain. The pain wasn't the problem. He could handle the pain quite well. The only thing that was irritating was the fact he couldn't figure out what was going on. That single question he asked seemed to have put him in much more of a tight spot than he could afford to squeeze out of. If he tried swinging his Zanpakuto, the vector would just grab it and tried to cut off his wrist. If he tried to thrust, it came down to the same result. Normally, he would be able to tank such an onslaught, but the fact that he was close to his Zanpakuto spirit than he was to anyone else was troubling him with the expression that she was giving him. Terrell had troubles focusing on his original plan and eventually went airborne in order to try and stretch the distance between them. Again, he was out of her range, which allowed him to rest just for a split second. His body shook every now and then from the random muscle spasms that made him want to drop down and rest. All of this was already becoming too much for him. Each clash of his blade made his hand shake and his mentality crack from how unsure he was in what would happen to him. There was no air of confidence he held around him whenever he saw the ripple in the air charge at him. Staring down at her made him feel hopeless. What could he do against someone that had his own abilities? It was like she knew what the hell he was going to do. So, what was there to do, besides hope that she wouldn't notice how weak and defenseless he looked?
'Why are you in the air? She could attack you at any given moment. Isn't it already difficult enough to follow where they more?'
Terrell bit his lower lip. This feeling that was starting to flood his body made him even more upset. 'This... This is what it feels like... This is what it feels like to be helpless?' He gave a rather saddened laugh. His body shook more. Lights started to bend and twist in his field of vision as she stood like a Goddess giving divine punishment to her disloyal followers. He hated this. This feeling of defeat. This helplessness. Why should he have to suffer for saying something stupid? 'I didn't do anything wrong. All I did was ask a question. Why can't she just answer me?... I'm tired of this... I don't want to fight anymore.' This man sounded like a child playing a sport and ended up making himself look like a fool. Lucy finally seemed to have enough of the little masquerade and began walking towards him. If he stepped back, she would continue to chase him. If he ran at her, she would probably kill him. What could he do? Terrell closed his eyes tightly. His mind drew several blanks. Reloaded. Blank. Threw the clip out. Reloaded. Blank. Threw the clip out. Reloaded. Bullet flew out. Struck the head and made it explode. The contents that were kept in the head flew out in a beautiful array of pink, red, and black. His eyes cracked wide open at the sudden epiphany and stared down at his hands. A smile slowly crept onto his lips which forced Lucy to stop dead in her tracks. She was actually staring at his facial expression and grimaced at the sudden body movement he made. Terrell shot up into the air and caused a gust of wind, sand, and dirt to mix and fly around in a carefree manner. "What is he doing?..." She muttered to herself as the man twirled into the sky like some type of drill than curve in the air and dive bomb right at her. Her eyes didn't crack wide open until she heard him say,
"If I take one of those horns, will I be able to kill anything too?"
The only thing that could be seen as a murky gray cloud formed in the sky was a wide toothless smile which bore a horrifying resemblance to the vampire Alucard from Hellsing.
"Heeeeeyyyyy. I want horns, tooooo~"

Terrell continued to spiral down towards the woman with a wide and rather disturbing grin. Lucy held her ground as though a mere offensive strategy would cause her to fall. With a single flick of the wrist, the vectors shot forward, trying to grab and tear off the limbs of the man that was trying to defeat her. Terrell pulled out of the spiral with the cloud following and spun as the blade grazed against the vectors and shot down them. The cloud that he had created continued to ride down the vectors until an explosion reached Lucy's location. As if that wasn't enough, Terrell grabbed onto the hilt of his Zanpakuto, than threw it down as it pierced through the air and caused another explosion upon contact with the cloud. Vectors flew out from the cloud while barbed wires shot out from beside Terrell and collided with the ghostly hands that pulled from their gray tomb. Terrell reached his hand out and beckoned the Zanpakuto to fly back to its master. The Zanpakuto did exactly that and Lucy flew up from the cloud. A fresh stream of blood poured from her back as the vectors continued to lash out at the barbed wires. Compared to Terrell, she was twenty one short. That meant she had four and he had twenty five. The difference? Hers were faster and more lethal. His? He had a much longer range and more at his disposal. The fact of the matter was that she was finally being hounded and attacked constantly. It nearly took five barbed wires to handle one vector and one Terrell to tackle a single Lucy. Lucy could even tell that he was being much more forceful than before but failed to understand why. Regardless, she still used her vector to fight him off, refusing to do such a thing as hold onto the blade and fight. Terrell eventually began laughing as his Reiatsu slowly flooded the area around them. The last thing that could be seen was another black gaseous cloud forming around the blade than hitting it which caused a violent torrent of blood to flow from both Lucy and Terrell as she flew back and he stood still.
Terrell didn't move from his spot as Lucy's vectors shattered into glass and broke into little Reiatsu particles. Terrell's breathing grew more rough. Within a few seconds of seeing no further movements from her, he jumped back from the cloud, than landed on the ground and began coughing while crouching down on a knee. Blood began flowing from random parts of his body. Nothing was minor. Yet, his own Reiatsu was aggressively expediting the process in which blood would flow from an open wound. He was sure at this point that he couldn't fight anymore. Too much Reiryoku had been used in that single attack in which he went into a rather violent onslaught of constant aggressive strikes. Now that it was over, he was feeling more physically weak than he was mentally exhausted, not that it really mattered now that he saw Lucy's fallen body against the rough dirt. Terrell bore no real facial expression as he watched the body carefully. "...What did I do wrong?..." There was no response. A frown finally rose from the straight line that was his lips. Terrell stared down at the ground. He felt absolutely horrible at this point. His only real friend that he could talk to and communicate with was brutally murdered by his insatiable lust for wanting to kill and knowing he could get away with it. Without anyone having the extreme physical power it took to bring him down. A few yards from him, Lucy's hand twitched and right away, she stood up. Terrell turned his head to acknowledge the movement that was being made and was taken aback from Lucy suddenly moving. "Lucy?-" Like that, Terrell began to fly back as something pierced through his shoulder with ease. A long outline holding a blade was the one behind the attack. His body went limp, than tumbled back as the blade was pulled out, than brought back to its master.
"I told you... I was going to kill you. For the sin that you committed..."
Lucy's eyes grew slits as she stared at the mant hat was working himself up to his feet. Only one word was said.
"Die."

Terrell grasped onto his shoulder as his Zanpakuto continued to levitate beside him. 'S-Shit... It was a trick?' Terrell shook his head as the pain demanded to be acknowledged. At this point, it was difficult for him to not ignore it. Had it been someone else's Zanpakuto... Terrell would have been able to ignore it. Since it was Lucy and her Zanpakuto, it would be much more difficult, considering that the Zanpakuto was basically a flesh and shield slayer. "D-Damn it... Why the hell are you doing this?!" He finally yelled out at the woman. She didn't flinch. The man was no longer emotionally torn by his actions. This woman was slowly becoming another body that he would toss over his shoulder the moment he grew bored with her. It seemed right away that no means of negotiation would be available for him to have with her. The ground beside him grew distorted and looked as though something was trying to reach out to him from a different world. The dirt itself looked like a puddle filled with ripples and soon enough, barbed wires pulled up from the ground, grasping around the hilt of his Zanpakuto than holding it beside its master. This was probably the only time, if at all, someone would be able to see a rather serious and pissed off Terrell. The lack of answers and frustration of causing a very small amount of blows on his enemy made him want to throw away the arrogant way of fighting he was following up with just to settle the match once and for all. At the exact same time, Lucy threw her Zanpakuto forward just as Terrell did, sending her vectors after him while he simply sent the few that held onto the hilt. The clash caused the barbed wires to let go of the sword. Right there, Terrell jumped into the air and threw his hand forward, basically controlling the Zanpakuto to grind against one of the vectors and slash at Lucy. Just in time to protect her, she destroyed one of her vectors, than slapped the Zanpakuto out of the way. By the time she reached the Zanpakuto's hilt with her vector, Terrell already flew by and grabbed it, throwing it again as he sent out all twenty five of his vectors in an all out barrage against her.
The vectors coiled around her and spun out in a violent twisting motion that tore through the sky. Any pebbles or rocks for that matter were completely hacked into much smaller portions while the barbed wires were being struck and swung in every direction that they basically shattered upon impact. His zanpakuto flew into the air, than stabbed into the ground as Terrell landed beside it. Just as he was reaching for it, he coughed, breaking out into an even larger coughing fit as he nearly fell to his knees from how horrible it was. 'S-Shit... Looks like this is the end for me... Either that or I'm getting damn near close.' Terrell tried to stand up but coughed even harder. This time, he fell onto his knees, throwing up a very small amount of blood that made his throat burn violently from how hot the fluids were. When he looked up, he was actually shocked to see Lucy mimicking him to some extent. Her mouth was covered as blood began to flow from different parts of her body. More or less from her mouth. 'Heh... Looks like she's finally getting affected by Sankaihiso as well...' Terrell wore a bloody smile as he held onto the hilt of his Zanpakuto and used it as a makeshift cane in order to stand up. Lucy glared at Terrell the moment she noticed he was standing again and was given a laugh in response to what she did. "Cut the crap, you fictitious bitch." This voice seemed more mocking than it ever did childish or murderous. He seemed to be tired of playing the fool and was finally stepping up to the throne. "I'm only going to ask once. Why the hell are you attacking me?" Lucy actually stepped back at the sudden demand that was given to her. "...I thought... You were ready." "For what?" The man didn't even bother to beat around the bush. At this point, a single moment of hesitation would cost him another second of his life, something that he actually needed at the moment. She glanced up at him and stared into his eyes.
"To achieve bankai."

Terrell stared at his Zanpakuto Spirit in disbelief. 'For bankai? To achieve bankai? What the hell is bank-' His eyes widened. That was when it finally hit him. What all of this fighting meant. His eyes became glued to the ground. This was why she wanted to "kill" him? His head started to feel heavy. Everything around him grew much louder than before when he was crippled over in pain. This seemed far worse. His head spun. He felt like falling asleep at this point. Yet... His head... He couldn't stop scratching his head. There was a sound echoing inside of his skull. An annoying insect that wouldn't leave him alone. 'Why... Why... Why... Why...' His pupils began to grow this time. This woman... She now looked like a Goddess. A goddess covered in blood and other indescribable substances. This view that his mind was giving him... It made him feel as though he was being tainted. Raped mentally. All of it finally made him snap. His breathing that was rough became soft as he removed his hand from his bleeding shoulder. There was no longer any soft color in his eyes. "You're telling me... You're trying to kill me... For a stupid form you thought that I was ready to obtain?!" Terrell's voice rose in such a murderous and dominant tone that made Lucy wince in slight fear. Lucy opened her mouth to say something. Terrell only yelled out with a, "SHUT UP!", actually making Lucy stumble back from the sudden raise in voice and grow quiet. Terrell lunged at Lucy, whom finally took the hilt of her Zanpakuto into her hand, than slammed her own against his. The collide caused a miniature sonic boom that used their Reiatsu as a medium and nearly tore the area around them apart in a dome-like structure. Lucy stared into Terrell's eyes only to see how infuriated he had become. Lucy skidded back and stood as Terrell did the same. She seemed sad and hurt at the look he gave. Terrell bore no mercy as he swung his Zanpakuto and allowed his Reiatsu to flow more freely than before.
"Terrell... I'm..."
Terrell pushed off the ground and shot towards her at a blinding speed. They were finally crossing the border of no return.

Clash.
The wind stood still.
Clash. Clash. Cling.
Now it was the ground that shook.
SCHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHKT-TING!
Their blades collided once more. The battle had become fierce just as it was when the wind and the wasteland were at each other's throat like strep. This was exactly how these two were as they allowed their emotions to flare and fuel their need to fight. Others would be doing it just so they could have a chance to become stronger and live longer. His reason for acting like this was the sudden betrayal he felt from the one person he could trust. No matter how hard he tried, he couldn't understand, regardless of how many times he asked her. But with each time he asked, his strikes would grow stronger, just as hers would grow faster. There was a cut across his face. His mind was struggling to fight off the pain that was escalating from his shoulder that was already bleeding profusely. That was the least of his problems. Terrell was constantly striking at an opponent whom could use whatever he did near perfection or at it. This entire time, he was left to assume what the hell she's going to do next and if he can counter against it properly. Lucy, on the other hand, had to deal with the coughing fits and the bleeding from random parts of her body. She felt like someone had grabbed a baseball bat and was constantly beating it against her head every time she blinked. The Zanpakuto Spirit knew that the battle was finally going to end sometime soon. Only one of them would be the one disappearing... But even that thought was something that she didn't want to think about. The way he moved across the battle field and the way she danced with blade in hand against him; it was like an ancient ritual was taking place. Their blood that constantly flowed in small streams were like the ribbons being twirled around them as their performance continued. Terrell finally stopped with another clash of his blade and met with the ground, falling face first from the sudden impact of being slammed into the ground by the vector, than rolled off to the side and flung his Zanpakuto at her. The blade made a whistling sound as it shot through the air. Lucy replied by swinging her blade up but stumbled back a bit from how weak she felt. The moment Terrell stood up and beckoned his Zanpakuto to his hand, Lucy sent all four vectors at him, only making him widen his eyes as he was barely able to react.
Just then, all twenty five of his barbed wires materialized, grabbing onto the vectors with even weaker strength but keeping them at bay. All of which were inches away from his face.
Terrell swung his Zanpakuto and made the vectors fly back while forcing the distance between them to extend. The vectors followed relentlessly and were finally stopped again by the barbed wires that took the time to materialize and be at the height of its efficiency. Terrell's breathing was heavy to a point that his entire body felt heavy. '...I'm... Going to die... Aren't I?' This question was more of a rhetorical one. He didn't know if he was going to die or not. That didn't stop the pessimism from settling in, of course. The distance between him and Lucy were far too long for him to make a final attack that would end it. His body was rebelling against him to a point that he was about to pass out if he went any further. This meant that there was nothing left for him to do. If he allowed Ortus et Ruina to disappear, the vectors would come and neatly dissect him, leaving his body in very well-cut pieces that would lay on the ground of this barren wasteland for the next millennium until someone would find him. One of his eyes finally closed as his breathing continued to grow more rough. 'S-Shit... I'm finally feeling it... Having... to rely on my own willpower to block out the pain... It... Really hurts...' Another sad smile. His tired eyes floated over to Lucy who stood tall with her vectors sprouted from the back of her waist. Than his eyes moved over to his barbed wires that were trying to fight off her vectors. What could he do to win? 'I don't think I can... Its been a long... Long time since I've had to think about a strategy to win...' Terrell closed his eyes while making sure his barbed wires continued to fight back. 'Come on... She's at least a few yards away. I can't close in enough space otherwise I'll be the one at her feet-' His eyes widened once more. Again, a serious expression arose as his arms shook from how tight he was gripping the Zanpakuto, than held it back. Reiatsu began to form around the blade and the viscous cloud-like Reiatsu that was his own began to flare from how much was trying to stay connected to the blade. Lucy stared at what the man was doing and felt her body grow tense from the uncertainty of what he was planning. Terrell yelled out as he swung his blade forward with only two words echoing throughout the entire wasteland before he shot forward.
"Atra Vomica! (Latin lit: Black Plague)"
Only then, did a stream of the gray cloud explode down the barbed wires and vectors, than again at the location that Terrell had just landed.

Terrell's body was right in front of Lucy's as was the same. Slowly, the vectors began to dissipate into the air as beautiful particles of Reiatsu, just as his own did the same. Blood dripped from behind Lucy where the blade had pierced through. Everything stood still as her body slowly leaned onto his. Terrell kept his hand on the Zanpakuto that was inside of her body and remained quiet. Nothing could really be said. He honestly felt his body growing numb from the outcome of the battle and no longer gained the willpower to speak. His eyes grew blank while he slowly wrapped one arm around her. The wind that was around them moved about quietly, as if to play a requiem for the loss that was made, as though it could understand the pain that the two felt and was respecting them for what they had gone through. Lucy's bloody and cold hands gripped onto the man's chest tightly. It was far too long since she was able to talk to someone and even try to hold them. Now that she was finally able to, she was dying in his arms, such a beautiful reenactment of a Knight and his Princess... Her tightening grip began to loosen. Terrell finally held her body closer than ever... Only to be greeted by a beautiful explosion of Reiatsu that flowed off into the sky. The clouds began to darken and rain began to fall before he knew it. These salty drops of water that flowed from his eyes as he fought even harder to keep them back. A glistening array of stars and lights accumulating around him until he finally screamed out to the Gods above him and damned them for allowing such a thing to happen. But even as this happened, an eruption of sheer power too place that filled the area with sparkling stars and an infinite spatial wonderland painted the mundane sky with little glistening children and a remnant of a brush that skillfully stroked across the sky with white paint. This power that many yearned for...
Was his curse that was known as "bankai".
