The Sun was setting, putting the bad lands of Rukongai into a haze of pollution, and smog. The 64th district of Rukongai had been seeing some odd patterns of crime lately, and it had gotten just bad enough to prompt some investigation from the Gotei 13. Dalj, having been in the worse parts of Rukongai in his early weeks, of soul society, was chosen. Rinkotsu was also chosen as this was his home district. And as he walked alongside Dalj, Both knew this day was gonna get really annoying really fast, if they didn't find the source of this issue. However, Dalj was tickling with excitement, he had never been to this particular district before and new things really fascinated him by nature.
Dalj noticed though his child like wonder, that he was getting a little thirsty, But he decided to ignore it, he didn't want to brave the water in a district this bad, nor was he in the mood for drinks at this towns bar. Plus Rinkotsu looked irritated with this whole affair, at least to Dalj he did, So Dalj would simply bear with it till he was home.
It was in the split second that followed, that screaming could be heard down the road, it was a shriek that sounded like it belonged to a dying rape victim or some such other horrible fated soul. Dalj looked Rinkotsu in the eyes, and started running towards the Screams, Dalj noticed screams, coming from other areas, but he advacned towards the original scream, hoping it was the source of the problem. Dalj turned a corner and a massive skirmish was going on, it looked like citizens were trying to fight some sort of group of thugs or invaders. Dalj was wondering where Rinkotsu was, as be looked on at the battle.
Dalj noticed that most of the citizens where now either knocked out or had fled, so he unsheathed his blade, and rushed into battle, Hoping to quill the tide of this battle fairly quickly and gain control of the outcome by doing so. Dalj was looking forward to, finally he could exercise his training upon the faces of people who sought to do evil before, he only hoped Rinkotsu would join in the Battle, Dalj switched the grip of his sword in his left hand, so he would be hitting people with the back of the blade. And as he caved in the first skull of a man who charged him with a lance, by stepping aside and using a left swing to knock him out. The crowd begin aware of his presence, and now the real battle could begin. "GET HIM! Shinigami filth!" Dalj smirked as he heard the battle cry.

Rinkotsu walked along side Dalj, looking around at his home district with a glazed look. He was remembering all the time and memories he had of this place, good and bad. He wished to revive the feeling of freedom he had in those days, doing whatever he felt and getting what he wanted. It was the lifestyle he could only secretly admire now though, his true feelings tucked away within him. It was one of the main reasons he and Dalj became such good friends, each one being able to control the other. It was a relationship that benifited them both. In fact, he actually did appreciate Dalj for more than just the fact however. He had grown to actually feel for him, almost like a brother.
It was then in the midst of his own thoughts that Rinkotsu heard a distant scream, most likely the reason he was here investigating anyway. Like expected, Dalj was instantly off running towards the disturbance, leaving Rinkotsu behind to catch up. Rinkotsu grinned, knowing full well what he would do now. Rather than race off to meet up with Dalj, he would just casually walk there like he had been. Besides, Dalj can handle himself, plus he ran off without even a word. "How rude..."
Rinkotsu then continued to walk in the direction of the screaming, thinking once again of past memories. He didn't visit the place often so he liked to dwell in the past when he could, it entertained him. He would have continued to do so as well but he was once again distracted by a yell in the distance. "Shinigami filth? How dare they insult my pride." Rinkotsu knew he was slightly over reacting but he ran off to catch up with Dalj nonetheless.

The first man fell, as easily as the next and the next, Dalj was having fun destroying weaker opponents, but would like a challenge. And as a large bodied man using a club attempted to swing at Dalj from the right, the Shinigami decided to get a little Fancy. He used a quick shunpo To move behind the club wielding man, and he delivered a right punch to the back of the oaths head, knocking him out. "Thick skull noob." Dalj said as he blew the dust of his knuckles, the man was very dirty.
Dalj now noticed that most of the people had ran off. and the only ones left looked like underlings. He saw a party of three guys, running off into the nearby tree line. Hoping to escape Dalj's wrath. Dalj used shunpo once again, to escape the small group still attacking him, and pursued the three men into the trees. After two short shunpo Dalj was caught up to them. Standing in front of them, he now blocked their path, and all three looked intimidated, and now Dalj knew he was on the right track, two bigger men, guarded the average sized one in the middle, Dalj had found the ringleader.
"Now look, we can do this one way, I can kick the crap outta you guys, and we can all go back to town." Dalj said with a polite smile on his face, hoping the men would come quietly. The two men gave each other a stupefied look. "Well don't just stand there, kill him!" And at there bosses orders, they both charged Dalj. "Disintegrate, you black dog of Rondanini!! Look upon yourself with horror and then claw out your own throat! Way of binding 9 Geki!" Dalj now laughed at his utter control over his weaker advsaries and smiled. "You guys don't know much in life, do ya?" Dalj mocked. Now Grabbing each one by their filthy hair and dragging them all back to town with his right hand.

Rinkotsu had finally arrived at the place where he had heard the screaming come from. He was dissapointed with what he found however, the bodies adorning the ground meaning he wouldn't be able to exercise his strength. Not only that but he had hoped to punish whoever had talked about shinigami being filth, having insulted him inadvertly. He then took a closer look around and realized Dalj wasn't present, wondereing where he ran off to. Figuring that since Dalj wasn't here he must have run off after someone trying to escape Rinkotsu decided he would just wait here for him.
Rinkotsu sat down among the bodies, using one as a cushion so that he wouldn't get his shihakusho dirty. He didn't know how long it would take Dalj to get back but he had time on his hands and he knew that Dalj would be quick about it. However, it was times like these that also put him on edge a little, not sure how Dalj was thinking. It only took so much to make him go crazy and when he did Rinkotsu was one of the only people able to keep him in line. There wasn't any reason to worry though because Dalj had come back, carrying 3 bodies by the hair with him.
Rinkotsu walked up to Dalj, patting him on the shoulder as he passed him and went for the 3 bodies instead. Rinkotsu fiercly punched one in the head, making amends for the comment earlier whether or not he had said it. He then turned back to Dalj, grinning. "So you took them all out without even leaving one for me? Next time be more generous. Also, these guys were probably behind all the commotion in Rukongai lately so let's hurry up and head back, the day is ending." Rinkotsu said as he turned and began walking off back in the way they came.

"Well sorry man, I kinda got caught up in the moment." Dalj said and dropped the men on the ground, not sure what course of action to take, Dalj though to ask Rinkotsu. "What should we do with these guys?" But Rinkotsu wasn't responding, so Dalj thought it best to just unleash the hounds. "HEY! The guys that attacked your town are lying beaten down over here, come and get em." Dalj now followed Rinkotsu, and snickered as people started walking towards, the invaders with pitch forks and other make shift weapons.
Dalj could here the screams of the invaders behind him. He kinda hoped for the worst on their part, after all they had disturbed the peace, and now it was in the hands of fate. Dalj remembered how he had died, and although he wasn't sure why he remembered it, it still made him mad. He really wished he had gotten to marry that girl, the girl whose name had been erased by time in his mind, and was now only part of his rough memory of the human world. He still harbored hopes of meeting her in soul society some day, but he knew it was really bad odds. And he dismissed the idea.
Turning his attention to the now, he realized something that had slipped his mind until now. He thought about Rinkotsu's time in Rukongai, and quickly made some vital connections. "Hey Rin, you ever here of some big crime organization that was developing here in Rukongai, it reached its peak and then died down shortly after, right around the time you joined the academy if I read the profile on it right. Rumor has it, the leader left to try an infiltrate Seireitei. So I was just wondering, any chance that these uprisings lately have anything to do with some kinda remnants of that organization?!"
Dalj continued walking alongside his friend. Hoping for a straight answer this time. He always had trouble getting one out of Rinkotsu for some reason. But then that was kinda expected of someone who hid so much of themselves for the sake of the people around them.

Rinkotsu grinned at Dalj's response, knowing that would be his answer. In all honesty he didn't care as much as it would appear but he didn't need to let Dalj know that. At the question of what to do with the guys they had apprehended the first thing that popped in Rinkotsu's mind was simply to kill them but he knew that wasn't prohibited. He let out a sigh and focused himself so that he could banish the thoughts he was having back into their cage where they belonged. Rather than answer Dalj he just shrugged his shoulders, he usually left things like this to other people rather than himself. He wasn't one for pranks or gags but he did appreciate them when he got the chance to see them.
It was entertaining for Rinkotsu to witness the residents of Rukongai coming to assault the criminals who had made them suffer. It was in it's own way kind of ironic how the sides had changed, the aggressors now being the victims. He knew first hand that revenge had to always be twice as sweet, or else it wasn't revenge at all. Atleast that was his concept of revenge and it was ideal compared to others in his opinion.
Rinkotsu had been just walking carelessly back to their destination but it seemed that Dalj's mind had begun to run. It wasn't hard to keep his composure on the outside but on the inside there was a little unease. He hated when people began to connect the dots towards him but he really couldn't do anything about it rather than refute any knowledge of what they're talking about. Not knowing something about Rukongai didn't put him under suspicion, few paid attention to the happening of these parts to begin with so Rinkotsu just calmly replied.
"No, I didn't know about that. I never paid much attention to what happened while I lived here, I was busy trying to take care of myself and friends. It's also unlikely that the leader would be able to just abandon his operation just to infiltrate Seireitei, it would be of little benefit for him. However, what we dealt with today wasn't anything big, which you would expect from a group that had peaked the interest of Seireitei. Probably just villains being villains if you ask me."
Rinkotsu figured his answer was enough to sedate Dalj's curiosity but he wasn't certain. He was also a little skeptical about the question at all, did Dalj think he was the former leader? Rinkotsu wasn't sure but he would have to keep an eye on this whole thing. It would be very unfortunate if things were to go sour between them because one of them was over curious. Rinkotsu just wanted to get back to the solitude of his room, where he could contemplate his thoughts in peace. "Let's go Dalj, the day is nearly done."
