The gaunt stillness of the night gripped almost every corner of the Kidoushuu's training grounds. Whatever light the stars themselves could produce was what was being used by anyone who'd decide to stay up and train this late. It was three o' clock in the morning, and neither sun nor moon was out. In the distance, one may see spontaneous flashes of light accompanied by faint sounds of spirit chants and space shifting. To the slight surprise of many, Shimesu was the only one occupying the dark and silent training grounds. He was always known for training hard and diligently, but no one had ever seen him take it to this extremity.
For a long time, it had been quiet, suggesting that the androgynous male had called it quits for the night, but that notion was gravely wrong. He decided to start over. Beginning as he always did, Shimesu raised his head as he came out of meditation, letting his eyes adjust to the profound darkness that surrounded him. No lamps were lit, and although the sky was cloudless, no moon was present to reflect the abiding rays of the sun back to their corner of the spirit world. This, along with the silence instilled within it, was enough to send anyone off the edge, but not Shimesu. He sat in the pit, grabbing every source of light he can, straining to see the dummy ahead of him as he positioned his open left palm in front of him.
"Hadou no Sanjuuichi: Shakkahou!"
A petite ball of red energy formed in a suspended state a few inches in front of his palm before firing forward very loosely -- sprinkles of energy falling from its base form. It was more of a flare than a ball, actually.
"Wait a minute...," Shimesu paused, keeping his arm locked in position. He used that spell in order to see the path to his target, and while it did serve its purpose, it was rather weak. Giving it another try, he recited the spirit chant once again, adding a little more energy to the spell than last time.
"Hadou no Sanjuuichi: Shakkahou!"
Appearing quicker and a little healthier, the Shot of Red Fire blasted toward the dummy at about the power of the average academy student using it with full incantation. The results were a little better -- the attack leaving a scorching mark in the torso of the target's body -- but the boy knew he could push it further. He was gaining more and more understanding toward both Kidou and reiatsu with each initiation of the spell, and the meditating he did at the beginning of every session helped open up his senses to observe and analyze what was going on within and without him. He paid close attention to the reiatsu signature of the technique and how much energy he was using to perform it. It eased him a little to know his limitations, but it also burdened him when he began thinking too much about it.
Shimesu closed his eyes and took a deep breath; his arm still extended out toward the target. His body was shaking. Fatigue, hunger, and strain were all wearing the gender indefinite boy down, but he fought through them all determined to accomplish his goal. He never let his weakened state influence how he trained. He always continued as if he had just began, making sure that he always went further than his current limit at the time. Keeping his head up and his thoughts fresh were ways he battled back the erratic behavior.
"Shakkahou!"
He screamed, letting off a perfectly-shaped and fully-powered blast, tearing a chunk out of the left half of the training dummy. Immediately following the attack, with little delay, was another Shakkahou, at full power like the last, scorching the target's head off.
The crimson flashes had died out, and all that can be heard throughout were heavy panting sounds. The Shinigami stared on at his success, breathing heavily, sweat rolling down the sides of his face. He was proud of his accomplishment, but fatigue had taken its toll on his body. Too tired to do anything else, he sat there, arm flopping down to his side as he caught his breath. It was time for another break.

[white]~ The Next Day ~[/white] Shimesu's eyes inched open, revealing that he was still at the Kidoushuu's training grounds, sitting in a slumped over position. He panned the surroundings as his incandescent, jade orbs adjusted to the sun-filled area in stark contrast to how it was the prior night. It appeared he had fallen asleep on himself after the repeated assault of Shakkahou on the training dummy he sat approximately thirty feet in front of. He looked down at his right wrist, a long, black chain firmly wrapped around it. He, then, looked at his left; his palm slightly cindered by the continuous firing of reiatsu. It had come back to him, what he was supposed to be doing last night before getting carried away with all the Shot of Red Fire. What started out as a means of seeing in the dark had turned into a training session of its own.
Swiping his left hand down his face and shaking his head, he attempted to wake himself up more in order to continue his training. He rose his right hand from the ground, focusing his reiatsu before grabbing a hold of the chain that bound it to the tattered and scalded training dummy, while declaiming the chant to the first spell he was supposed to train after his initial break the night before; Bound Lightning.
"Hadou no Juuichi..."
As he cited the words, small sparks of electricity danced wildly around his grip -- obviously the power gathered for the technique falling short. Steadily increasing the amount of reiatsu he put into it, small streaks of lightning began trickling down the chain, anxious to rip free from his clasp. It was ready now.
"...Tsuzuri Raiden!"
The boy concluded, sending a bright yellow electrical current down the length of the shackle, frying the doll it in its entirety with a powerful shock. The stream of overexcited energy soon died to simple sparks, and then nothing, as its energy depleted. It seemed his judgement of how much reiatsu would be required for a spell had improved with the training he had underwent just a few hours ago, as well. Finding himself more comfortable in performing the spells, he knew he wasn't doing this in vain.
Undoing the loop he tied the chain in around his wrist, the blonde-haired Shinigami prepped himself for the next spell in his line up. It was now time for Soukatsui. The ebony male searched the depths of his mind for the incantation he made a mental photo of out of the Kidou book. Raising his right arm, he focused his reiatsu once more, holding an open palm out toward the training dummy that had already sustained substantial abuse.
"Ye lord! Mask of flesh and bone, flutter of wings, ye who bears the name of Man! Truth and temperance, upon this sinless wall of dreams unleash but slightly the wrath of your claws!"
As he articulated the words, his reiatsu became visible as an emerald green aura framing his body. Blue reiatsu began swirling at the end of his palm as the structure of the hadou commenced, forming a ball about the size of his hand. Before shooting it at his target, the unseated Shinigami supported his control over the spell by holding his right arm steady with his left, and with the conclusion of the spirit chant, the boy carried out the spell.
"Hadou no Sanjuusan: Soukatsui!"
The ball of blue energy burst forth in a wide array, roaring with power as it rushed its target. The result of the blast had taken the whole top half of the dummy's body off, leaving behind what little was left of the waist and the stump that held it firmly in place. Feeling the energy consumption beginning to take its toll on his less than fully recovered body, the boy began to pant, sweat rolling down the sides of his face. He was able to successfully pull off the technique in one shot, but the toll it took on his body was great. Had he not had the experience with firing-type Kidou such as this one, the results may have taken a completely different turn. A few more huffs escaped the boy's lips before he managed to bring his breathing to a norm. There was only one last spell he had in mind to train before wrapping this all up and bringing an end to the countless hours of hard work he had already put in.
He was going to burn down what remained of the training dummy with Hadou no Gojuuyon: Haien. It'd be the first Kidou he'd attempt over the level of forty, so he knew this is where the hardship truly started. The fact that he was already nearing his limit made the chances of him learning the spell in one shot even slimmer. Even so, the boy prepared himself for the task at hand. Closing his eyes for a brief moment, the boy gathered his reiatsu, aiming his open right palm at the stump.
"Hadou no Gojuuyon: Haien!" The Shinigami exclaimed, a ball of purple reiatsu forming in his palm only to explode violently afterward. It seemed he couldn't hold the charge long enough before firing. "These spells are a lot different than the ones from before," he uttered, coughing as he brought one hand to his mouth whilst fanning the smoke accumulated by his failed attempt at the destructive spell with the other. "But I have to get it right," he mumbled to himself, refocusing. Extending his right arm out in front of him again, he restated the spirit chant, resulting in yet another explosive failure.
Hacking yet again as his lungs were bombarded with smoke, he waved his hands to clear the air around him. "What can I be doing wrong?" The boy asked himself aloud, attempting to keep his composure. It was hard to concentrate on his reiatsu, hunger getting the best of him the more energy he dished out, and he now had to switch to his left hand because his right was burnt severely in result of his second attempt. He fought through it, however, determined to accomplish his goal, holding out his left hand -- albeit it suffering from very minor burns from the night before. He thought he had the reason for his failures figured out. It obviously wasn't the lack of or instability of his reiatsu since the Kidou had been taking perfect form. Perhaps it needed an extra kick to pull off properly. The boy would soon find out.
"Hadou no Gojuuyon: Haien!"
Shimesu shouted, putting a little more force behind the technique, enough to where he believed it could flow the way it should, and to his avail, it had, but not quite how he expected. The ball of purple energy jerked from the androgynous male's palm, the vigor behind it causing a kickback that threw his aim off slightly, sending the spell hurdling just above the training stump. He succeeded, nonetheless, but he couldn't call it quits after something like that.
"Whoa..." The boy mused, taken back by the power of the technique. He didn't expect a spell, which was described as a simple ball of purple energy, to be harder to control than Oukasen or Soukatsui. Yeah, it outranked each of the spells significantly, but the blonde-haired Shinigami had another outlook after reading what it was described as out of the Kidou book.
Grabbing his left arm with his right hand, he attempted to keep the limb steady as he executed the technique. "Hadou no Gojuuyon: Haien," he bawled, pumping reiatsu into his palm to form the purple ball of energy. He aimed his arm down to ensure that no kickback could cause him to miss his target. The Abolishing Flames would fire from the boy's palm -- the kickback controlled -- crashing into the stump. It did exactly as its name suggested; abolished every last piece of what was left of the training dummy into nothing in a bright orange flame.
With an exaggerated sigh of relief, the boy flopped on his back, closing his eyes as he caught his breath. Finally, he could rest and build his energy back up!
