((Probably going to get hit for putting my two character in the same thread interacting, plus having her slightly involved in Sayurin's plot, but I wanted to minimize the number characters the person RPing the captain has to rp (Thus why I chose Unohana over Toshiro [Who's followed by Rangiku] and Ukitake [Followed by his fanboy and girl]))
Flashback.
“To learn Kido like that, you will have to get one of the advanced Kido books.” Yuri was told by Momo Hinamori. She had asked her squad’s Lieutenant where she could find books on higher level Kido, higher than those she had been reading about. “Where would I get one Lieutenant Hinamori?” She asked Momo with a look that teetered between intrigue and curiosity. “Well.. You’d have to get one from a captain.” Upon saying that, the mood around the woman in front of Yuri seemed to become a lot more depressing. She now regretted asking, knowing that she had probably felt the worse upon the loss of their squad’s captain. “I understand.. If you don’t mind, I’d like to visit one of the nearby squads and ask their Captain for permission to use them.” Yuri said with a devoted look on her face. “That’s fine.. I’ll get back to you about the request to train Hakuda in the human world..” The woman responded with a nod before returning to her work.
Division 4.
Sayurin was now walking inside into the infirmary which was the Division 4 barracks. Once inside she looked around for a sign as to where she should go if she wished to see the squad’s captain. Was she looked around, she saw the front desk. “Hello, um.. I would like to see Captain Unohana, if that’s possible.” Never before had she felt so awkward, standing here uncertain of how formal she should be with those in front of her. She knew that the squad 4 members were usually treated poorly by the other squads, but she was different in that she only disliked those members that accepted that they were below other squads. Personally, those division 4 members that work hard under the stress of mockery really push her to pursue her own goals.
“What do you wish to see her for?” The nurse at the counter asked. “I was told that, in order to learn high level Kido, I must request the an advanced Kido book from a Captain and well.. Squad 5 is lacking one at the moment.” She said as quickly as she could. She would further emphasis how this made her feel really awkward, but then she remembered her trip prior to this one. Before coming to the Squad 4 barracks, she tried the Squad 6 barracks where not only was it awkward, but the Captain wasn’t accepting any visits.
“Please sit over there; you’ll be called into her office in a moment.” The nurse then said while pointing to a bunch of chairs. She sat there for about an hour, wondering if she’d ever be called in. The whole time she was there she saw many people enter the facility, from members of Squad 11 who almost killed each other to well-groomed Shinigami just looking for a check-up. At this time she was finally asked to go to a designated off to wait for the captain.
She walked down the hall to the designated room number. Inside she examined the room to find it was an average doctor’s office. She saw two chairs inside and so decided to take a seat and wait.

Unohana Retsu slowly placed the file she was looking at down on the table before her, signing it adroitly she selected one of the stamps from the table and after ensuring it was the correct one, gently but firmly, then placed the report to one side to allow the ink to dry.
Her duties as a captain involved many things, far more than the most of her peers; not only was she responsible for overseeing her division's shinigami and the hospital system, but the myriad of other domestic chores that her shinigami were relegated resulted in Unohana effectively running Soul Society in much the same way as a chamberlain. Without her efforts to ensure that the fourth division shinigami were cleaning the gutters and drains, restocking eateries and conducting manual labour such as repairs; Soul Society would collapse. For that reason, with the exception of Captain-Commander Yamamoto-sama and the Central Fourty Six themselves, the Fourth Division Captain, Unohana Retsu was arguably one of the most important and most powerful of all souls – even discounting her own considerable spiritual powers.
As she waited she took a sip of the tea that had been prepared earlier, it had begun to cool slightly while she set about her work, yet to leave it untouched would be rude to the sweet young girl who had prepared it for her, one of the unseated members of the fourth division. Her much deserved drink was however, interrupted by a respectful knock on the door and another woman entered the room after a respectful, yet slight bow – Unohana had made it clear to her subordinates that their observance of protocol should not come at the expense of practicality in carrying out their duties.
“There is a Shinigami from the Fifth Division here to see you Unohana-Taichou,” the woman said respectfully, a certain adoration in her tone, “she said she has come to borrow an Advanced Kidou book.”
It was not so uncommon these days for members of the third, fifth and ninth divisions to come to Unohana for requests about things that they were supposed to see their own Captains about, further adding to her workload. In better times she would have been obliged to gently turn them away, suggesting that perhaps their own Captain should be approached first – for to interfere with another division's members was seldom appreciated by many of her peers.
Still, these times were troubled and the need for such activities was undeniable; if a Shinigami sought greater power in such dark times then it could be a great boost for Soul Society, yet that did not meant that she should allow just anyone access to the Advanced Kidou books, they were held in check by Captains for a reason, they were dangerous things, both to the one learning them and to those around them.
“Show her in please, Kagari-chan,” she said with a gentle smile towards the much younger woman who looked in her mid twenties, though the difference in their ages were centuries rather than the perhaps ten years it appeared; Kagari blushed slightly and bowed again, more to cover her slight embarrassment than anything else.
Backing out of the Captain's study, Kagari walked back to the reception area near the counter where seats waited for guests; “Unohana-Taichou will see you now, this way please.” Kagari led Sayurin back to Unohana's room, pausing just before the door to knock respectfully, then opened the door smoothly. “Unohana-Taichou, this is her.”
Unohana Restu looked up from the rapidly cooling tea, placing it gently on her desk she nodded in thanks to Kagari, who understood it as a dismissal and bowed slightly, backing out of the room and closing the door behind her, leaving Sayurin alone in front of the Fourth Division Captain. Unohana smiled mildly at Sayurin, “You must be Momoiro-san,” Unohana said knowingly, she knew by sight and name each of the ranked officers of the Gotei Thirteen, even those she had yet to meet in person. It was one of her duties to be familiar with the workings of every division, in order to better direct her own officers in their duties and menial chores around Soul Society. “Please, take a seat. How can I help you? I was told you would like permission to obtain an Advanced Kidou book, could you tell me more?”

Sayurin followed the nurse with much intrigue in the scenario that was about to arise. This wouldn’t be the first time that she encountered the Captain – while performing various tasks in the past, she had passed Captain Unohana. Of course, in those situations in which she was within a couple feet of the captain, Yuri did as was expected and bowed. In truth, of the current Captains, it was Unohana was the one in which she envied most. Such a strong woman, there was no way that she couldn’t envy her. As these thoughts crossed her mind, she found that she and the nurse had arrived at a doorway.
Yuri watched as the woman knock on the door and enter the room. A moment later the woman, whom she now knew to be named Kagari, showed her into the room. Once inside, her gaze quickly moved about in order to sooth her curiosity. There were occasions in the past where she had to hand deliveries from Squad 5 to other captains, and of course had met Captains Hirako and Aizen face-to-face in the past, but truly this would be the first time she would be talking to a Captain such as Unohana. By that, she thought of Unohana as being greatest than most captains.
Yuri saw the many piles of paperwork throughout the office. She tried to figure out what each was intended for, but when she remembered she was in the presence of a Captain, she also remembered her place. “You must be Momoiro-san,” the Captain of the fourth Division asked her. All Yuri could do was quickly bow her head in respect and say, “Yes, Captain Unohana.. Division 5, Seat 3, Sayurin Momoiro!” She nearly yelled, worrying way too much about her formalities at this moment.
“Please, take a seat. How can I help you? I was told you would like permission to obtain an Advanced Kidou book, could you tell me more?” The older woman then asked her. Yuri nodded, finally remembering that she should rise from her bow. She looked over to the offered seat and made her way over to it, before promptly taking a seat as she was asked “After learning Hado 58: Tenran, along with multiple other Kido, I wanted to try something even more difficult. Other squad members suggested I try more level 50 Kido, but the lower level Kido books contain very few of them. When I consulted with Lieutenant Hinamori, she suggested I try lower level 60 spells.” She stated, first at a fast pace, but she began to slow down to a normal speed as she talked. “She suggested I should try Bakudo 61 or Hado 63, but I would need a higher level book.” Yuri finished, before waiting for the Captain to reply.

“There is no need to be so tense; may I call you Sayurin-san?” Unohana said gently, trying to put the nervous young woman at ease, she picked up her cup of tea on the side of the table; usually she would not have done so, for it could be considered rude by some, yet she hoped that the reminder of less important matters, something as simple as a woman needing a drink, would ease the fifth division Shinigami. Taking a small sip of the lukewarm coffee she did her best to savour it, not an easy task.
”Rikujōkōrō and Raikōhō is it?” Unohana recalled the names of the two techniques without difficulty, though there were many Shinigami techniques she had not learned, the details of kidou were something that a captain should be expected to be know, though it was a product of much study in the Gotei Thriteen archives. That the woman before her had learned Tenran spoke well of her ability to handle the Hadō Raikōhō, despite it's dangers; yet such a high level Bakudō as Rikujōkōrō required a certain level of control, of constraint. Without knowing more about the youngster's abilities it would be dangerous to allow the woman access to such a technique – had Sayurin been from her own division, Unohana would have known whether or not she was ready for the task, as it was...
“Before I answer your request,” Unohana spoke softly, “I would like to see you perform any Kidō, most importantly I want to see your control over your energy, these techniques you ask for are dangerous to learn, both to you and to others – so unless you can show that you are ready, I cannot approve of your request.” The last was said with a hint of apology, yet an unyielding firmness – she would not budge on the issue if it put the young woman or others at risk.

“Sayurin-san is fine” Yuri responded before hearing what the Captain had to say next. “I would like to see you perform any Kidō, most importantly I want to see your control over your energy, these techniques you ask for are dangerous to learn, both to you and to others – so unless you can show that you are ready, I cannot approve of your request.” The captain had asked of her. Somewhere deep in her mind, Yuri was expecting a test like this. There was no way she was going to get a book full of high level Kido without showing that she was capable of learning at least the lowest level of them.
“Okay.” Yuri got up from her seat and walked to the middle of the room. She looked behind herself to check if there was anything within a couple feet of her. Once she had confirmed there was enough space, she began to feel for the flow of her Reiatsu. After getting comfortable, she began to visualize the beautiful wings she fabricated, mentally during her training on a night not so long ago. “Tsubasa no Mitsukai,” She stated as she forced her Reiatsu back, making sure to apply as much detail as she did during her training on the night she learned the spell.
Within seconds, large beautiful, light green wings appeared on Sayurin’s back. The wings were so detailed that individual feathers could be seen throughout the surface. Yuri took a moment to turn her neck and looked to the side. She wanted to confirm there was nothing that would be blown about while she showed off the wings use. She then proceeded to open the wings up before moving them a bit. Once she felt that she had satisfied the Captain’s expectations, she dispersed the wings.
She then looked to the Captain, to see how she would respond. Yuri had chosen Tsubasa no Mitsukai specifically because, not only did she spend more time on it than most other Kido, but it also showed off her abilities to control her Reiatsu as well as to alter a Kido to make it more suited to her personality (Such as placing great detail on the wings).

Unohana smiled in pleasure at the display before her, the technique young Sayuri had chosen was a good choice, the radiant plumage was not just practical, yet also demonstrated a more intensive study of detailed work with reiatsu, the first time it was used in particular, the fine control necessary to materialise the wings and to work with them to customise their appearance to reflect the user's intentions were a work of art. Yet even more important than the choice of technique was how it was performed, even before starting the young fifth division shinigami had been careful to be mindful of her surroundings – when learning such powerful techniques, such a simple thing was vastly important, yet unless it was instinctive, the shinigami might lapse in their efforts and pose a danger to everyone. Her control over her energy was much better than many of her peers too, though there was still room for improvement, Unohana was satisfied. “Beautiful,” Unohana said approvingly, “that was wonderfully done Sayuri-san.”
“Now, if you will give me a moment?” So saying Unohana stood up, with a slight nod before she disappeared with extraordinary swiftness, her masterful Shunpo taking her out of the room through the two wide open windows that led onto the balcony as she quickly retrieved the requested item. Within seconds she was back, not a strand of her carefully braided black hair out of place, no sign of exertion on her features as she held in her left hand a small leather bound book. “We keep such things locked up of course,” she said in explanation for her disappearance, her breathing even and composed despite her earlier movements, “this book contains Hadō and Bakudō one through to seventy.” She stated it soberly, “you may have this, if you keep it in a safe and secure place at all times and do not allow others to read the book or teach them yourself unless you have a Captain's permission. Is that clear?” Unohana said as she proffered the book as she fixed Sayuri with a weighing glance as she waited a reply. Provided that the young shinigami did as requested it should be fine, yet it would also give Unohana a good reason to have her Lieutenant Isane keep in contact with Sayuri's Lieutenant Momo, whom Unohana was still worried about - the young woman attempted a brave face, yet the strain was obvious at times.

Sayurin looked down at the book in which the Captain was holding. She did not care how many Kido it covered, but only really concerned herself with the fact that she could learn stronger Kido, using that book. She was about to say that it was fine with her that it covered only up to 70, but then the Captain stated, “you may have this, if you keep it in a safe and secure place at all times and do not allow others to read the book or teach them yourself unless you have a Captain's permission. Is that clear?” With no reason to betray Captain Unohana or the Gotei 13 Yuri agreed to the conditions, “I will not allow anyone to touch the book, nor will I teach the contents of the book to others, without consulting a Captain first.” Yuri said as she bowed respectively, to show her sincerity.

"Then use it in good health Sayuri-san." Unohana smiled kindly at the young woman and handed her the book, looking back to her desk she noticed the half full cup of tea still there, drinking the rest would prove less than pleasant, yet it was impolite to leave the tea left over in recognition of the thoughtfulness and effort that her unseated officer had made in providing Unohana with the tea, it had even been quite delicious when it was hot. "Now if you will excuse me I have more work to attend to." She said, indicating the seemingly inexhaustible piles of papers and files that lay neatly on tables around the room.
